Ben Rice is a dynamic blues artist whose raw talent, soulful vocals, and masterful guitar work have earned him the nickname “blues ninja". Starting with traditional blues, he has expanded his sound by weaving in elements of soul, R&B, folk, and country, creating music that feels both timeless and fresh. His journey began with early influences from vinyl records—his dad’s Steely Dan and Bob Marley, his mom’s Al Green and Barry White—before discovering blues greats like Mississippi John Hurt and Stevie Ray Vaughan, who shaped his fearless and inventive guitar style.
Since making waves at the International Blues Challenge in 2014, Ben has evolved from a standout Northwest act to a national and international touring artist, performing on renowned festival stages and clubs across the world. His passionate songwriting, deeply rooted in storytelling, resonates with audiences, offering a connection that feels both personal and universal.
In 2023, Ben elevated his sound with Ben Rice & The PDX Hustle, a high-energy band featuring horns, vocal harmonies, piano, and organ. This expanded lineup brings a bigger, more electrifying presence to his performances, keeping audiences on their feet.
