Around that same time he was holding court with a blues band in San Francisco's North Beach with former Elvin Bishop member Perry Welsh. Elvin would come in and jam towing along the likes of Paul Butterfield and other blues monsters . It wasn't long after that Elvin asked Johnny to join the new band he was putting together , the rest is history . This association led to six albums, endless touring and the #3 song in the nation by 1974 "Fooled Around and Fell in Love". That record turned Gold as well as a LP with "The Marshall Tucker Band" that featured Johnny and Elvin on slide guitar .

Jules Leyhe

First Show: 6:30pm | Doors @ 5:15pm

Second Show: 9:00pm

$35 Presale | $40 Day of Show

This ain’t your granddaddy’s blues—heck, it ain’t even your daddy’s blues. Guitarist Jules Leyhe is on an entirely different trip, juxtaposing futuristic elements with down-home tones. Leyhe has performed with with Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Jimmy Vivino, Fantastic Negrito, played the National Anthem at the Oakland Coliseum, and been featured in Guitar Player, Premier Guitar, and Vintage Guitar. Leyhe’s new album Your First Rodeo is a whimsical mashup of blues, hip-hop, fusion, rock and Latin music. Conceived and constructed using vivid fantasy, the Berklee grad imagined what it would sound like to pair signature elements from diametrically opposed artists. Picture Duane Allman jamming with jazz piano great Gil Evans, or Jimi Hendrix playing in Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The Family Jules Band featuring saxophonist Nancy Wright, keyboardist Ian McArdle and drummer Isaac Schwartz brings a funky jazz flavor to Leyhe’s fantastical vision.

Fillmore Slim - Presented by the Golden Gate Blues Society

Show Starts: 6:30pm | Doors 5:15pm | $35 Presale - $40 Day of Show.

Special guest Earnestine Barze, Michael Skinner and the Final Touch band

A tall, lean, man and flashy performer, he’s definitely one of a kind – a stylish dresser and self-professor whose vocal delivery and guitar stylings are rooted in the past, but his often humorous, occasionally self-depreciating delivery has a timeless appeal.

Jovial, pleasant and now in his mid-80s, his recording legacy isn’t anywhere near that of his peers – only nine albums at last count. And among some circles, he’s far better known for his other, former trade — as one of the most visible and notorious pimps in the U.S. and the subject of a major movie documentary.

“I wear a Scorpio around my neck,” he insists. “I tell women: ‘I’m gonna sting ya ‘cause its tail is up!”

Despite that boast, make no mistake about it: Fillmore Slim is definitely the Mack Daddy of the blues, too.
