Hailing from Oakland CA, Westerly is a band that embraces unity in diversity. Performing music with a message for uncertain times, all songs are carefully crafted by the band's lyricist/principal songwriter Sterling Spence. Writing from personal experiences, Spence's lyrics are the voice of the band and focus on community, the state of the world, and the importance of love.
Musically speaking, the band blends a wide range of styles from Pop Punk to soulful Americana, thus creating a sound they lovingly refer to as "Soul Punk". Live, the band is a force to be reckoned with. Think of a Westerly show as more of an "event" than a concert. The band is equally as comfortable on stage in a sweaty punk club as they are in a mellow acoustic setting and has shared the stages with everyone from Latin Grammy winners to singer songwriters and pop-punks.
